Why we’re hiring for this role:

We’re specifically looking for a Software Engineer to join our Payments Team that will contribute

to the direction of our digital payments platform. This opportunity will provide hands-on access

to building a modern scalable payment infrastructure across an entire continent. Developing an

understanding of how cloud native technologies and infrastructure can be leveraged to scale our


Some of the things you’ll be working on:

  • Building the next generation payments platform
  • Expanding our offering to more African countries
  • Expanding our payment options

Ideal candidates look like:

  • Minimum of 4-6 years’ industry experience programming in Python.
  • Experience with AWS, specifically AWS Lambdas and Serverless
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting logic and crafting innovative experiences
  • Experience with agile software development methodology
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal. You’re proactive at communicating all phases of the software development lifecycle – definition, execution and delivery
  • A start-up oriented drive to improve the efficiency and capacity of not only software development but also your career and those around you
  • The ability to work autonomously. You’ll take full ownership and responsibility for your work each step of the way
  • The ability to work collaboratively in a remote friendly environment.

Nice to haves:

  • BSc Computer Science, technical tertiary qualification or significant work experience.

Job Description:

  • Work alongside the other members of the Payments Team and be a part of the full software development life cycle
  • Working on business projects, internal tech projects, changes to various systems and navigating unplanned work
  • Work alongside the team to create quality code through peer reviews, maintaining internal and external documentation and identifying and addressing technical debt
  • Help the team build up healthy development habits like TDD, refactoring, using Agile
  • methodologies and finding the right tool/technology for the job.
